AMI BIOS

Download the BIOS error codes from AMI's FTP site.

Select 020291, 040990, 081588, 121593 shown on your computer

screen bottom-left corner when you first power-on system

Code & Possible Hardware problems

88

Wrong jumper settings on the mainboard; Open or short circuit on the mainboard; Bad CPU

06,07,08

Bad keyboard BIOS

Bad memory modules or short memory slots; Memory modules not properly installed; Memory modules not installed in memory bank 0, most of Pentium mainboard requires at least 2 pieces of SIMM; Bad TTL such as 74244 on the mainboard

2C

Bad video card or bad ISA/PCI slot; Video card not compatible with the mainboard; Bad video memory

 

After passing 2C and no video on the screen, the problem is likely to be a defective mainboard.

Bad BIOS chip

After passing 0D and no video on the screen, the problem is likely to be a defective mainboard.

Technical Notes

  1. You must install a CPU on the mainboard in order for this card to post an error code. During the normal operation, you will see the following post codes: AMI: 88, 13, 2C, ... , 88; Award: 88, C6, 0D, ... , 88; Other BIOS: contact your mainboard manufacturer.
  1. If no LED turns on, please check the power supply.
  2. This post error card will still work if memory modules or video cards are not installed; however, you will see the post codes 13 or 2C for AMI BIOS and C6 or 0D for Award BIOS.
